BANNER - 2015 LOVEATHON

I am so excited to be participating in this year’s Love-A-Thon! The Book Blogger Love-A-Thon is hosted by Alexa at Alexa Loves Books and is an event focused on bringing love to blogs and bloggers and celebrating the bookish community! I wasn’t able to participate last year and am so excited to join in the fun this year!

To start off, a little questionnaire to introduce myself!

What’s your name?

Wendy!

Where in the world are you blogging from?

Seattle, WA! I <3 the pacific NW!

How did you get into blogging in the first place?

I’ve loved reading my entire life but had a period of time during undergrad and a little beyond where I didn’t read much at all (blasphemous, right??) Then I discovered The Hunger Games trilogy, Finnikin of the Rock and thought, man, I need to find more books like these! Then, I discovered Jennifer Armentrout and binge read all her books. No joke. I binge read her entire Covenant series and Lux series and fell in love with Wait For You. Then I went digging for her next releases and discovered book blogs. What were these amazing blogs that talked about books and who were these people?? So I started blogging and it was the best decision ever! I LOVE being a part of this community!

How did you come up with your blog name?

It was actually really difficult because I wanted to find something that wasn’t already in use, obviously. Anyway, I love the smell of books and it could have a double meaning, like book scents/book sense and I ran with it!

What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

I honestly read and review a wide variety I think. Young adult and new adult with some adult thrown in. Fantasy, paranormal, contemporary!

What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

Top Ten Tuesday, occasional discussions and I had a football/sporty book feature I started during the football season! I didn’t keep up with it as well because December got reaaally crazy busy BUT don’t fret, I’m totally bringing it back once football season starts again. (It’s SO FAR AWAY.)

Best blogging experience so far?

BEA!!! I got to go to BEA last year and I absolutely LOVED meeting all my blogging friends and meeting authors too! It was like 5 days full of bookish goodness! We crammed 5 of us in a hotel room and I miss those girls like crazy! Why can’t we all live closer!

Favorite thing about the blogging community?

How passionate everyone is! I can flail, fangirl, etc like crazy and no one judges me! You guys UNDERSTAND my book feels and understand that feeling when you absolutely cannot put down a book. You guys understand what a book hangover feels like! You guys understand that book boyfriends are a thing!! 😉 I can rant and rave about books and you all will join right in. You all are my people!! *hugs everyone*

Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2015!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas (EEEEEEK!), Lion Heart by A.C. Gaughen (will my feels survive?!), The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord (ORS was one of my FAVES of 2014), Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (new series in the Grisha world?! YES PLEASE), Nowhere but Here by Katie McGarry (umm it’s Katie McGarry and THANK YOU Danielle, will be reading soon!).

What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?

The Love Me With Lies series by Tarryn Fisher! Trust me, it took me awhile to warm up to the series but I love it now! WTFery and a whole lot of crazy but whoa is it real! Everyone should read it.

Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

So. Originally I read this as “book BF” and literally typed out a whole list of all my favorite book boys before I realized this said BFF. Oops. I got too excited there 🙂 Anyway, as far as BFF: Rose Hathaway. I feel like I’d even her out a bit as I’m way more think-first, but we’d have so much fun together. Plus, I’ll know that she’ll always have my back!

Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?

Can I say Netflix? Haha. I also like hiking, baking, and eating aforementioned baked goods.

Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

Candles! And cute scarfs. And that’s really about it unless something cool and bookish (but not a book) catches my eye.

At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?

If the scene is a party hmmm…. okay, I’ve got two and they’re very different, haha. Luke Bryan’s “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” (my friend and I frequented a lot of country bars and we loved it when this came on!) and Usher’s “Yeah”. Back in high school, for some reason, this was THE song my best friend and I would look at each other and go “it’s our song!” We just liked dancing to it, haha. And to this day whenever it comes on, I’m like OHH!!

Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

Hmmm. I’m real iffy when it comes to my favorite books being turned into film/TV. Can I say that I want the VA series turned into movies the way they SHOULD have been? Gritty and awesome instead of teeny boppy? If not, then: The Green Rider by Kristen Britain — I think it’d make for an awesome epic movie!

  1. Ahhhh Love Me With Lies series! I totally forgot about that one!!! D’oh! Oh dude, I love Usher. I don’t think there is a song that he has done that I don’t like! 😀

  2. YES to VA being turned into movies it should have been! I feel the same way! It’s too mean girl-esque looking for me. I won’t even watch it. Those BEA pictures made me really nostalgic. I’m glad you guys are coming this June! It’ll be a mini reunion! Ah Love Me With Lies! I just bought all of those! Have I read them? Of course not. LOL. I WILL. And then I freaking out to you guys. YAY QoS and Nowhere But Here made my list too!

  3. I’m so glad you got to experience BEA and meet some of your blogger friends in person! It sounds like such fun. Hey, I see Danielle!! 🙂 Ahh I can’t wait for Queen of Shadows and Six of Crows. They both sound so awesome, and I love both of the authors. Netflix is most definitely a hobby. 😉 Lovely getting to know you!

  4. I LOVE that THG and Finnikin got you out of your reading slump. Both are among my favorites! I’ve read Lion Heart and it will give you ALL THE FEELS!

  5. Can I please come and visit you in Seattle? I’ve always wanted to go there! Also, we’re all going to die of flails when it comes to Queen of Shadows. After the emotional roller coaster that Heir of Fire was, I don’t know how my heart is going to handle this next part of the story! Also, yay for book blogging friends and BEA. So glad I was able to say hi in person 🙂 And, and, and, YEAH was totally my jam back in the day too, so I feel ya!

    Thanks for joining the Love-a-Thon!

  6. Hi, Wendy! 😀

Yeah, even though I’ve loved reading all my life, I went through a period of my life when I stopped reading as much as well and I really wanted to get back into it and that’s why I started blogging! I just wanted something to motivate me to read more, and it’s definitely worked.

Oh wow, you went to BEA last year! I LOVE ALL YOUR PHOTOS. I’m so jealous. 😀

I’m super excited for Six of Crows as well!

  7. BEA looks like such an amazing experience! I really want to go one year and meet other bloggers.

The Start of Me and You is a fantastic contemporary! I loved the relationships in it. I haven’t read the author’s first book, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy that when I finally get to reading it (there are just SO MANY books to read).

I loved The Opportunist. It was crazy, and it made me want to throw my Kindle at the wall sometimes, but it’s a REALLY good book. I agree that it needs more attention!

  8. Hello Wendy! Seattle is interesting, in that I’ve never been there but I want to visit! 🙂

I feel like I keep seeing Finnikin of the Rock in places recently, but I’ve never heard it prior to last year.

OH. You were at BEA last year. How fun! I’m trying to go this year. Will you be going again? 🙂 If you are, perhaps we’ll see each other there.

I don’t think I’ve seen Love Me With Lies before. I’ll check it out.

  9. Wendy, I totally agree with Love Me with Lies as underrated! I also picked that for that question (along with another series) because it’s just SOOOOO good. I read The Opportunist last year but only picked up Dirty Red this month, well needless to say I had to read Thief immediately after 😛

I agree about VA movies the way it should be. I watched all of 20 minute sof that movie and promptly shut it off. It seems like a parody … I dunno, I expected so much more. And I don’t like any of the casting either!

  10. I also thought that it said book BF at first… I think we just get too excited over all our swoony book boyfriends…

    QUEEN OF SHADOWS!!!

I’m so sad that you’re not going to be at BEA this year. Who is going to wait in a 3 hour line for Queen of Shadows with me???

  11. I love the smell of books too. My sisters and friends think I’m weird when I smell books, lol. I can’t wait to read Queen of Shadows and Nowhere But Here! I love the Love Me With Lies series. Tarryn is a phenomenal author.
