The 25 days of Book Boyfriends Tour is here! It’s being hosted by Jessica at Lovin’ Los Libros and Teresa at Readers Live A Thousand Lives. Each day, each blog will be spotlighting a favorite book boyfriend! Be sure to check out the rest of the tour (both the links for Jess and Teresa have the tour list) for other amazing book boyfriends!

I will be featuring one that I only just met this year, not too long ago, when I binge read the Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer. Marissa is a queen of writing the best ships ever and my personal favorite boy from the series is CAPTAIN CARSWELL THORNE. *lets out an Iko-like shriek and faints*

Okay, I’m back. Thorne is my favorite for so many reasons.

Thorne is this roguishly handsome criminal. Yet, despite being a criminal, he has such a good heart. He can keep denying that he is not a good person, that he is selfish, but what he thinks of himself is not always the truth.

At the top of his file was a three-dimensional holograph scanned in from his military graduation. Cress preferred it to the infamous prison photo that had become so popular, the one in which he was winking at the camera, because in the holograph he was wearing a freshly pressed uniform with shiny silver buttons and a confident, one-sided grin.
Seeing that smile, Cress melted.
Every. Time.

He is hilarious. Thorne has THE best lines. He has such funny one liners and he cracks jokes at the worst times but seriously had me laughing out loud. Or he’d make comments that would make me grin.

She surveyed him for a long moment, her brows knitting together. “Murder?”
His grin grew. “Thank you, but no. I started a riot in the yard.” He adjusted his collar, before adding, “We were protesting the soap.”
Her confusion grew, and Thorne noticed that she was still in her defensive stance.
“The soap,” he said again, wondering if she’d heard him. “It’s too drying.”
She said nothing.
“I have sensitive skin.”

He is loyal. He can claim all he wants that he’s just out for himself, but when it matters, his loyalties to his friends shines through and oh my gosh, it just makes my heart melt.

Knees suddenly weak, she reached for his forearms to stabilize herself. “You came for me.”

He beamed, looking for all the world like a selfless, daring hero.

He is SUPER thoughtful. In ways you would never have imagined from the cavalier Captain (who painted a naked woman on the hatch of his spaceship). One specific example of this is kind of a spoiler from book three so don’t click if you don’t want to know: View Spoiler »

Sometimes he has no filter in what he says, but it’s surprisingly endearing. He is so witty and has the best banter with Cinder. It makes me smile so much.

Thorne: “But I’m a wanted fugitive, like Cinder, they do realize I’m missing, don’t they?”
Cinder: “Maybe they’re grateful.”

He is the biggest flirt and it is somehow just too adorable.

A kiss from the Captain would probably melt my central processor.
Thorne winked at her. “Oh trust me. It would.”

Have you guys met Thorne yet? If you’ve read the Lunar Chronicles, who is YOUR favorite from the series? If not, who is your favorite book boyfriend? (If you can’t choose one, lord knows I can’t choose just one, tell me a few!)

  1. Oh I want to click the spoiler tag so bad but I am resisting since I really want to binge this series soon! They sound fabulous and I know so many people absolutely love them. Thorne sounds like a characters I would absolutely love. Great post and thanks so much for participating!

  2. Thorne is AWESOME! I can’t wait to see how much MORE he’ll make me swoon in Winter, but I can guess that it’ll be a lot. I liked him straight away in Scarlet but man, as soon as he met Cress I was done. Their chemistry is through the roof!! His humor and charm just make me melt and I can’t get enough 😀 Awesome book boyfriend pick Wendy ♥

  3. Thorne <3 <3 <3 I love him so, and I'm so glad you chose him for a book boyfriend! He's definitely equal parts mischief and vulnerability, and I really loved him in Cress, but ever more so in Winter.

  4. I haven’t read The Lunar Chronicles, but really want to! My daughter is looking for a new series, so maybe we can read it together.
Favorite book boyfriends……Mr. Darcy is my top pick. 🙂 Also love Mr. Knightley.
