I’m not putting in the synopsis for these two because it may be spoiler-y for those who haven’t read the previous books. (I know, because I mistakenly read the synopsis for #6 before I had finished reading #5 and had a minor spoiler).
Yes, I finished these forever ago but I’ve been putting off getting a review together because it’s just so hard to put into words how perfect I thought these last two books were in the series! I read these back to back, in one day, not moving from my room. I don’t really want to spoil anything if by chance you haven’t read the prior books in the series so I won’t go into too many details about what happens. My reactions though, I will tell you that.
Blood Promise (#4) was perfectly heart wrenching for me and the emotional turmoil simply continues with Spirit Bound. I both loved and hated this. Loved because hey, that just goes to show how invested I was in these characters! Hated because I LOVED them and WHY Richelle Mead, WHY must you torture them so. Each character kind of comes into their own in these last few books and Rose grows up. She’s still the snarky, take-no-crap girl but she’s matured and it’s wonderful. Oh and Dimitri and Adrian. One is destined for Rose, just FITS with her so well but you can’t help having your heart break for the other.
I thought the conclusion to the series was fantastic. Plot points that kept me on the edge of my seat and still surprised me in the end, along with emotional wrenches thrown in the works. If you haven’t read this series, please go read!! This is not your typical teen vampire series, it’s much more raw and intense — no sparkling vampires here. (I was not a fan of Twilight, sorry guys.) I loved all these characters so so much and I can’t wait to read the spin off Bloodlines series!
This series has been on my TBR list for a while. I am glad to hear that the final books were book, because many times the final books fall flat in a series!
