Why Did I Read?
Wait for You was the first new adult novel I ever read. Perhaps that’s why this series holds such a near and dear place in my heart or it may just be because Jennifer Armentrout is freaking magical and writes the swooniest men in the history of ever. I preordered Be With Me and somehow just hadn’t read it until recently when Stay With Me came out! Clearly that was a mistake because Be With Me was captivating and so good!
My Thoughts:
Be With Me focuses on Cam’s younger sister Teresa who, after an ACL tear, has her dancing dreams put on pause for a year while she hopefully recovers. Teresa has had a crush on Jase, Cam’s best friend, but he hasn’t talked to her since a kiss about a year ago. Ah, Jase. Swoony, swoony Jase. You can’t help but love him but it was frustrating when he’d push Teresa away. I mean, I understood why, but it was definitely frustrating! However, I obviously forgave him because he is just so sweet and protective.
I adored Teresa! JLA has a knack for writing strong heroines. Dancing has been so prominent in Teresa’s life, I can’t even imagine those dreams sidelined. Also, certain events that happened to her in the past could’ve been so devastating yet she has persevered and soldiered on. I like that there were difficult issues tackled in the plot and they were addressed really well.
I feel like I don’t even need to address the fact that the swoony scenes were amazing because come on, it’s Jennifer Armentrout. She has the swoony down! There was only one minor issue that bothered me with this one. So, Teresa is recovering from her torn ACL… but she’s not in any physical therapy classes. This kind of puzzled me because my sister and a friend have had torn ACLs and they had very frequent (and painful) physical therapy sessions. Like multiple times a week for a few hours at a time sessions. There are certain stretches you need to do in order to get full extension of your knee back. It was weird that Teresa didn’t have any of this? And I know this issue is so very minor but I kept thinking of it throughout the book and then it just kept bugging me. Anyway – but that was a small thing.
One of my favorite things was that characters from Wait For You made more than just passing appearances and were very much involved in the book. One scene in particular involving Cam made me laugh so hard. 🙂
In Short…
Be With Me was another fantastic new adult novel from Jennifer Armentrout! Packed with swoon, because what else would you expect??
My Rating:
What did you guys think about this one? Should we all move to West Virginia to find all these swoony men? 🙂
Oh I’ve got a bunch of JA books but I’ve only read the Lux series! I have to get to her other books soon too! 😀 Great review… Looking forward to more by you! 🙂
Book Maniac Reviews
Teresa is my favorite heroine of this series – she’s down to earth and sarcastic and blunt – I love it! I also am a sucker for the “I’m in love with my older brother’s best friend”. :3
Great review, Wendy! Now go read Stay with Me! 🙂
