Practice makes perfect.

Everyone at Hundred Oaks High knows that career mentoring day is a joke. So when Maya said she wanted to be a rock star, she never imagined she'd get to shadow the Jesse Scott, Nashville's teen idol.

But spending the day with Jesse is far from a dream come true. He's as gorgeous as his music, but seeing all that he's accomplished is just a reminder of everything Maya's lost: her trust, her boyfriend, their band, and any chance to play the music she craves. Not to mention that Jesse's pushy and opinionated. He made it on his own, and he thinks Maya's playing back up to other people's dreams. Does she have what it takes to follow her heart-and go solo?

Praise for Miranda Kenneally's Breathe, Annie, Breathe:"[An] expertly paced and realistic romance."-Booklist, starred review"Heartfelt, uplifting, and quite possibly enough motivation to make readers reach for their running shoes." -Publisher's Weekly"Breathe, Annie, Breathe is an emotional, heartfelt, and beautiful story about finding yourself after loss and learning to love. Her best book yet." -Jennifer L. Armentrout, New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You

Why Did I Read?

I love Miranda Kenneally’s Hundred Oaks series so of course, I needed to continue the series!

My Thoughts:

I so enjoyed this one!! I loved Maya and her strong personality. She’s so vibrant, you just get sucked into her brilliant energy! I loved her family unit too, which brings me to the other thing I loved so much: seeing Sam and Jordan all these years later! I love that in the Hundred Oaks books, you’ll see cameos of the other characters but we got quite a bit of Sam and Jordan and this one and it just made me really happy!

I really liked seeing Maya and Jesse get to know each other. Jesse puts up all these walls but quickly realizes Maya is someone he can be himself with. It’s just super adorable. I also have a soft spot for musicians. So of course, I was totally swooning for Jesse right away. It’s the country singer, southern charm he’s got going on! I also love how they each push the other to go for their dreams. To reach and work toward what they want. I loved seeing them support each other in their life aspirations.

In Short…

I love this series! I think these characters are just so real, it makes me feel like I can reach out and be their friend. I love the family interactions, the cameos from previous books’ characters and the fantastic romance. This is a YA contemporary series you need to read!
