2019 is here! Here’s looking ahead at some new goals and resolutions for the new year! I like making resolutions because it gives me something to work toward. I happened to fulfill all of my 2018 resolutions!
2018 goals: 120 books. Finish a full marathon (and bc I’m naturally competitive even with myself, I have a time in mind). PR another half. Climb a V5. Blog more. 10 pull ups.— Wendy (@BookScents) January 1, 2018
Just in the nick of time, I finished 120 books for the year! I’ll be making my GR goal the same for 2019 – 120 books!
I ended up only running one half marathon in 2018 due to a hip injury (and a sprained ankle) that limited my running in the latter half of the year but I DID PR it! 1:54:47 (8:45 pace) was my PR at the Snohomish Women’s Half last May!
I ran the Rock N Roll Marathon in Seattle! I was nowhere near the time I wanted but for it being my first ever marathon, I call it a success! It was probably the most painful thing ever, apparently it was the hilliest course in Seattle Rock n Roll has done and I’m just proud I did it. I talk more about my marathon journey here!
I can do 10 pull ups in a row now! Not all the time but maybe I should set a goal for 15 in a row this year??
I really thought that I would not be able to climb a V5 this year especially since I took some time off due to my injuries and didn’t climb for a good two months. But I did it! With like two days to spare, ha! For this year, I think I want to focus on ropes more and work on strength training.
I’m not sure if I really succeeded at blogging more but for this year, I want to try for at least once a week posts!
I’m not setting any hard number goals this year because that injury I mentioned? I’m still not 100% yet. And I know if I went and set some numbers goal, I’ll screw up my recovery. I had been doing a LOT better, running up to 9 miles and slowly getting my pace back but then I ran a Christmas race in December and now it’s nagging at me so back I go to shorter distances and running SLOW. So my goals for the year?
- Be patient with my body. It’s ok to run slow! Learn how to recover and not push my body before it’s ready!
- Start hang boarding, build up that climbing strength! Aim for 15 pull ups in a row.
- 120 books this year – focus on my stacks of owned books and backlist arcs, both physical and earcs!
Reading Challenges:
The 2019 Popsugar Reading Challenge! I’ve always wanted to do it but to be honest, it was sort of intimidating. However, it does look like a lot of fun and I’ll take a casual approach for it! If you have any suggestions about books to read for any of these prompts do let me know!
The Contemporary Romance Challenge hosted by Andi at Andi’s ABCs! I’ve done it in previous years and am going to do it again this year! Check out her post and her fun twist this year – she’ll recommend a contemporary romance each month to challenge us to read! I love her recs and can never get too much contemp romance in my life! <3 I will be aiming for the grand slam of 21+ books!
TV Shows:
I know it may seem weird to have these as a “goal” but I have a LOT of shows that I really want to finish or watch this year! Some of them because it’s been years of me saying “oh my gosh, I need to finish that show!” and some because they are ones friends have loved and I have always wanted to check out! So here they are:
- finish Buffy (I stopped around beginning of S6) and Angel (I stopped around S3?)
- catch up with Supernatural (I think I was around S10?)
- finish Stranger Things before Emerald City Comic Con! (a few episodes into S1)
- watch Veronica Mars (I adore Kristen Bell and with the movie news?? It’s a must.)
- finish Parks and Rec (this is a long time coming!)
- watch Brooklyn 99 (I gave my friends one choice to put on this list and this is what they picked and I am very excited about it!)
I always love the idea of setting TV goals for the year. I’ve tried in the past but I am so terrible with watching shows!
I never seem to have enough time! I’m hoping that with a focus on these particular shows that I really want to get to, it’ll help! also I’m going to be doing buffy and b99 from the library so i’ll have a time limit. Not sure ifthat will be helpful or more detrimental…
I am SO BAD at finishing TV shows … almost as bad as I am finishing book series 😅
My fitness goal is just to get into a routine again and be consistent! It was hard when I didn’t know what my day-to-day would be, but now that my work schedule is set I know when I can schedule my workouts.
I find it always helps to plan ahead for the workouts! If I know I’ll be doing it at that time, it’s easier for me to stay consistent! Ditto for me on those series both TV and books!! It’s easiest for me to binge because then I don’t forget!
