In Alaska, it’s always a white Christmas—but the sparks flying between two reunited friends could turn it red-hot…

If there’s one gift Erika Sheraton does not want for Christmas, it’s a vacation. Ordered to take time off, the workaholic surgeon reluctantly trades in her scrubs for a ski suit and heads to Wild River, Alaska. Her friend Cassie owns a tour company that offers adventures to fit every visitor. But nothing compares to the adrenaline rush Erika feels on being reunited with Cassie’s brother, Reed Reynolds.

Gone is the buttoned-up girl Reed remembers. His sister’s best friend has blossomed into a strong, skilled, confident woman. She’s exactly what his search-and-rescue team needs—and everything he didn’t know he craved. The gulf between his life in Wild River and her big-city career is wide. But it’s no match for a desire powerful enough to melt two stubborn hearts…

Happy December! I am a huge fan of holiday romances and love everything involved in the Christmas season. I always try to read a lot of Christmas romances during this time of year because they are just the perfect compliment to the cold weather and cozy time by the fire and Christmas tree!

Today I’m featuring An Alaskan Christmas by Jennifer Snow, a perfect start to my holiday reading list. Erika is an overworked, one track mind surgeon who is being told she has to take a forced “vacation”. She doesn’t know the meaning of this word and has no idea what to do with herself. She takes this time to go back to see her best friend and spend the time with her. The only thing is she hasn’t kept in touch with her over her years of nothing but work.

It was at first a little awkward as Erika spends time with her best friend Cassie and it actually took me a bit of time before I got into the story because things felt a little disjointed. However, as Erika and Cassie’s friendship gets back on track, things started clicking for me too! Cassie’s brother Reed works in search and rescue and is such a genuinely good guy. As he and Erika get reacquainted sparks fly.

As Reed gets Erika to realize that work isn’t all there is to her life and Erika discovers a different side of herself. I loved seeing the two of them get to know each other and discover how they actually feel about the other.

Erika’s relationship with her father was something that I wish had a bit more of a focus. It came into play at the end but I feel like it would’ve had a more emotional impact to have more detail about it.

I really enjoyed this romance and I’m interested to see if Cassie gets her own book next! If you’re looking for a cute romance with a riveting couple and interesting characters, this is the one for you! This will be a great addition to your holiday reading list!

What are some of your favorite Christmas romances? Have you read this one yet?
