TTT: Top Ten Books I’d Slay A Lion To Get Early

Posted May 1, 2018 by Wendy in Top Ten Tuesday / 7 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl!

I haven’t done one of these in ages! So this week we are talking about books we’d slay a lion to get early! Now I don’t know about my lion slaying skills, maybe I could outwit and sneak by this lion to get to the trove of early books it is guarding though.

I’m also taking this seriously because while there are plenty of books I’d love to get early, I don’t know that I’d go past a LION for it. So these, you know THESE, are highly highly anticipated by me! So there’s actually only six. The title here is a lie, ha!

In no particular order…

1. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

How coincidental that the cover was JUST revealed! I can’t even form words for how much I’d love to get this book early — I’ve done my waiting! Ever since the Grisha trilogy and I got to meet Leigh at her Ruin and Rising Fierce Reads tour stop and she secretly told me and a friend that she wanted to write a Nikolai book. That was in 2014! AND NOW IT’S HAPPENING.

2. Dark Age by Pierce Brown:

I mean, it’s not THAT far away, but far away enough. I need answers and I need certain things to happen… because it could make or break how I feel about this second trilogy! Dun dun dun.

3. Contagion by Erin Bowman:

Totally cursing the EW gods right now because Edelweiss and Harper and I are apparently not meant to be. I want to get my hands on this one so badly! I loooved her Vengeance Road and Retribution Rails and can’t wait to see what sci fi she has in store for us!

4. Kill the Farm Boy by Kevin Hearne and Delilah Dawson:

The publicist at Penguin Random House totally sold me on this when I was at their booth at Emerald City Comic Con and then she told me they were out of arcs. Haha, but now I’m dying to read it! Princess Bride reference sold me!

(AHAHA UPDATE: amazing friend Mel is actually supplying me with an extra copy she has! <3)

5. The untitled first book to Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff’s newest YA sci fi series together (formerly called Andromeda Cycle / now jokingly called the Milky Way Cycle):

Because I finished Obsidio and it was AMAZING and now I just need more of their words together!

6. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor:

It’s been so long it seems like!! I am dying to know what happens next!

What about you? What books would YOU risk facing a lion for?

  1. I just know King of Scars is going to be on a lot of posts today! Seriously cannot wait to read that one and the cover is just amazing. I must read my copy of Strange the Dreamer soon! I’ve heard so many great things but it’s been sitting on my shelf all of this time!
