TTT: Top Ten Couples In Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

This week we are talking about our top ten favorite couples! It is Valentine’s Day coming up this week after all! I don’t usually do much to celebrate it – do you? In the mean time, if you’re looking for a book featuring amazing couples and OTPs that will sweep you off your feet here are my top faves!

1. Elisa + Lord Hector (aka Lord Commander of my heart!): The Girl of Fire and Thorns series by Rae Carson
Honestly, this is probably one of my top OTPs of all time. I love these two so much. They are just so good for each other and they made a great team and had such a good combination of trust, friendship and chemistry. I think I’m due for a reread!

2. Katsa + Po: Graceling by Kristin Cashore
I’ll be honest, I read this quite a few years ago and really need to reread and finish this series. However, I remember loving these two with all my heart and not just anyone makes it on to my “OTP forever” shelf on GR.

3. Alina + Mal: Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
Just you wait until I write a whole treatise on this after my current reread. Long story short: yes, Mal is not perfect but he acted like a normal teen boy AND had a great character arc where he grew up. Also, he was the ONLY ONE who wanted Alina as just her – he didn’t want her for anything else unlike *cough* OTHERS. Don’t at me. šŸ˜‰

4. Rose + Dimitri: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Their chemistry leaps off the page from the get-go! It’s the forbidden love trope and then they do so much for each other and I just loved them.

5. Finnikin + Evanjelin: (and so so many more in the rest of the series but leaving them out for spoiler’s sake) Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta
If you’re on the look out for amazing couples – this series is CHOCK full of all the OTPs!! No joke. So many freaking good ones that are on my all time list in this series. They will make your heart so happy.

6. Puck + Sean Kendrick: The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Can you say slow burn? The very best sort. Puck and Sean are each a little different in their own way but they get each other. And they fit together like two halves of a whole and I honestly could not live in a world where Sean and Puck are not together.

7. Kady + Ezra: Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
Kady, the bad ass independent type and Ezra, the jokester who loves her. Through all the craziness that goes down in this story, they find a way to figure their relationship out and honestly, I love their candor, conversations and steady support.

8. Cress + Thorne: Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
They are SO different and yet it’s true about opposites attracting! They play off of each other and each brings out a different side of the other. This whole series really has amazing couples, all of whom I adore!

9. Adam Parrish + Ronan Lynch aka PYNCH: The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
THE SLOWEST OF BURNS but oh so good. You just want them to figure themselves out so badly and they’re just– <3 I honestly have no words.

10. Kestrel + Arin: The Winner’s Curse series by Marie Rutkowski
It has been a long time since I’ve read this series – honestly putting together this list just makes me want to reread all these faves! Kestrel and Arin are everything. They defy societal lines and amongst war and politics and MORE. I loved their heart achingly fantastic romance.

HONORABLE MENTION because I can’t believe I forgot it off the list but I had already put the covers together– Karou + Akiva: The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor
I mean, speaking of heart achingly fantastic romance. These two are one for the ages and I could not adore them and their relationship and their love spanning time and worlds any more.

Who are some of your favorite bookish couples? Do we have any in common?

  1. Rose and Dimitri forever!
I also loved Katsa and Po and debated them for my list too but didn’t add them in the end.
The Lunar Chronicles are on my TBR and I’m so excited to see a couple from it feature on so many lists! I love a good couple to ship. šŸ™‚

  2. Great list! It’s so nice to see Mal and Alina on your list! I finally read the Grisha trilogy last month and I preferred Alina with Mal entirely. Mal isn’t perfect, no, but neither is Alina, and I don’t know how it can be considered romantic for her to end up with a man who tortured the very people he claimed to want to save. Alina and Mal are a better fit. I need to read The Scorpio Races – I’ve heard amazing things about it!

  3. I love Rose and Dimitri so much! I didn’t use it on my list though. Probably because I’m rereading them and just finished Shadow Kiss… Right before the whole Siberia stuff. Sadness for sure. Most of the books you listed have been on my tbr for ages but I still haven’t gotten to them.

  4. I loved Kady and Ezra, which is why the book pissed me off so much about halfway through? I almost DNF’d that book before I googled the ending.

I really need to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and The Lunar Chronicles. I got them both on some really good sales, so I have no excuse (maybe I should stop requesting so many ARCs from Netgalley? LOL I kinda have to read those first… but I wants to read them too).

  5. Omg Pynch is just about one of my favourite ships of life ahhhh!! And I LOVED the ships in Illuminae, although I ended up shipping Hanna/Nik the most. But like they’re all the best so. šŸ˜I also cry for Arin/Kestrel…they were so amazing but dysfunctional ajfdslkad. And Puck and Sean YES. One of the best crafted slowburns I’ve read!
