Looking Back: 2019 in Numbers

Posted January 13, 2020 by Wendy in Personal, recap / 1 Comment

I’ve always known that I’m a Ravenclaw (except for when I was 11, I mean, everyone wanted to be Gryffindor when you first read them, right). But this is definitely clear because I was very excited to look back on my 2019 reading stats spreadsheet and peruse ALL THE DATA. It’s just so interesting to see what my reading trends are, what genres I read the most of, which format, etc. Do you also nerd out about your reading stats like I do?

2019 Reading Stats

*arcs are also in PB category, earcs also in ebook

Interesting Takeaways:

  • I started the year off REALLY strong as far as the number of books read! Definitely big oscillations. I’m surprised by the spike in August but ack at the decrease at the end of the year! It was really busy.
  • I read more Adult than YA this year which was sort of surprising! Very close though.
  • My most read genre was fantasy! No surprise there, it does tend to be my favorite genre. In 2020 I do want to get more sci-fi and historical read though as I do love those genres too!
  • Audiobooks saved my life. No, but seriously, where would I be without audiobooks? I wouldn’t have gotten any reading done, that’s what! 65.5%!!
  • I definitely need to read more of my earcs and physical arcs! Let’s do it 2020!

2019 Running Numbers:

I don’t have any fancy graphs for my running numbers because that would be a deep dive into my Garmin data and I don’t think any of you all really want that šŸ˜›

So I’m just going to take a quick glance at the races that I did in 2019! It was a come back from injury year but I was still able to do quite a few races and I am ever grateful to be able to keep running!

2019 Races:

  • One 5K
  • Two 10Ks
  • One 12K
  • One 10 miler
  • One 15K
  • Four Half Marathons
  • Three relay races
  • One try a tri (first ever triathlon!)

Total Miles Ran in 2019: 689.4 miles – I can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store!

Going Forward:

  • Taking my 2020 goals post into consideration, it’s interesting to look at the stats of last year and adding in some mini goals too
  • I want to read more historical fiction, more sci fi
  • Read more owned or backlist books
  • I love rereading and would love to do that more this year!

Do you keep track of your reading stats like I do? What did you find interesting about your reading habits? What genre do you primarily read and what genre do you want to read more of?

I love reading these posts, even though I don’t personally keep stats on the books I read. I tend to read a lot of LGBT+ fiction and mysteries/thrillers. I like adult books too, but it’s a mix of adult, YA, and MG usually.
