Giveaway: It’s My SIX Year Blogaversary!

Posted May 30, 2019 by Wendy in Personal / 14 Comments

I can’t believe it’s been six years of blogging! I know that my blogging has been more sporadic in the last few years but I couldn’t imagine giving it up! I wanted to celebrate this milestone with something exciting and what better than a giveaway?? More giveaway info below, but first let me just wax poetic for a quick minute. πŸ˜‰

I know this will sound dramatic but I am 100% serious when I say that my life would not be the same if it weren’t for blogging. Diving into the book blogging world six years ago literally changed my life in many ways.

1. My life would not be the same without the friends I have made.

I didn’t know what I was doing when I started a blog. I just knew I had thoughts about books and nobody to flail and discuss with and discovering that there was a community for it online was super exciting! But instead of just book talk, I made these lifelong friendships. People have come and gone over the years in the book community but my closest friends are people I met here.

I still remember when I met blogging friends at BEA 2014 and people in real life were all STRANGER DANGER, MUCH?? and I’m like no, I know these girls, no worries! πŸ˜€

I don’t even refer to my blogging friends as “blogging friends” anymore because there’s actually no one else I talk to more in my life. They GET me. They’re my people. They’re there for me through everything and I can’t imagine my life without these dear friends. <3

2 . Book knowledge!

How do those not in the book community find their next reads? Haha! I’m serious! I feel like I constantly know what’s releasing, what’s coming out, and a good idea of other books even if I haven’t read them. I’m thankful for the vast amount of general book info I constantly have on tap. I love being able to recommend books to other people (be it online or just some random I see at the store) because I always get so excited for them to discover it and hopefully love it! (Who else has struck up a conversation with a stranger at a bookstore or library?)

3 . Diversifying my reading habits.

Before blogging, I read fantasy and I read historical fiction and very little else. I guess I stuck with what I knew I liked? And honestly, it’s hard to read out of your genre without a direction or sense of where to go. Due to the awesome community full of recs and general bookish excitement AND friends who can talk at length about their favorites, I’ve come to read way more diversely.

While fantasy remains a favorite genre, I have fave contemporary authors now! I now read way more adult fiction, more sci-fi and discovered romance and historical romance! I have read a few nonfiction books too. I love that I’ve expanded my reading horizons and found new favorites!

Okay, I’ve waxed poetic long enough – giveaway time!

I would let my daughter choose. I think she would like a book from the World of Warcraft series. Congrats on your Blogaversary!

  2. Congrats on 6 years! I’m so glad y’all welcomed me to the Survivor group. It’s been so fun talking to you for these past few years. If I had to pick a book, it’d probably be a pre-order of The Map From Here to There by Emery Lord.

Congratulations on 6 years, and happy blogaversary! Thank you so much for your dedication, I’ve found a lot of books and authors because of the bookblogging community, and I love that it is a community, that you can see you guys get hyped about books and all that, it’s lovely <3

Hhmm, not sure what I'd chose, maybe Graceling?

Congratulations on six years, that’s a lot of reading and a lot of work, I’m sure. I don’t quite know what I’d choose, this time of the year I’m usually in the mood for contemporary reads so maybe Sarah Dessen, or Elizabeth Acevedo’s books have caught my eye lately, I’m never good at making up my mind when it comes to choosing books.

Such a beautiful post, Wendy! β™₯ To be honest, I’m the kind of person who enjoys reading the emotional part in these posts, when people look back and realize how much they’ve changed, and how blogging always has a huge impact in that change. And you… OH MY GOODNESS, SIX YEARS! That’s quite a journey! CONGRATULATIONS, lovely, and I wish you many, many more years of wonderful adventures – and tons of amazing reads! =D

PS: OF COURSE, thank you so much for the really kind giveaway – and for including an INT prize! β™₯ If I were one of the lucky winners, I’d definitely pick Girls of Paper and Fire, by Natasha Ngan πŸ™‚

I would like to win a copy of Sadie (Courtney Summers)! Congratulations on six years of blogging! It’s fantastic!!!!
