Monthly Recap: April 2020 / Quarantine, Baking, Camp Nanowrimo

While March was the month that never ended, April seemed to have flown by! I can’t believe it’s May. It’s really weird to me that it seems like a whole chunk of this year has passed and the seasons are progressing but life seems stagnant. I don’t know if that makes any sense but quarantine life makes it seem like I’m in a holding pattern but time is still going by. It’s weird and a little unsettling. I hope you all are holding up okay!

I continued doing a lot of baking and cooking during this full month of quarantine and since I like cooking and baking, it was great! I’ve been trying a lot of new recipes which has been really fun. Have you been spending more or less time in the kitchen being stuck at home?

So as I mentioned last month, I signed up to do Camp Nanowrimo as I thought it’d be nice to have a focused goal since I am able to write daily now. And I’m happy to report I’m a Camp Nano winner!! I’m ecstatic about this! My goal was 25K and I ended at around 25,500. I didn’t write on the weekends and at one point was thinking I’d end up just short, but the last few days I really buckled down and got those words in! Woo! My current draft is right around 70K now and while I have no idea if it’s any good, I’m determined to finish it. People always say you can always fix things later so I’m running with that! 😀

Month In Review:

Books Read in April:

Favorite read of April: Throw Like A Girl by Sarah Henning! I also loved Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen and can’t wait to read more of the True North series!

Challenges Progress:

Goal: “Grand Slam” 21+
This month: 2 – Bittersweet and Throw Like A Girl
Progress so far: 7/21

Popsugar 2020 reading challenge banner

Hey I made some good progress on some of these prompts this month! Do I have a chance of completing the popsugar challenge for the first time ever this year? 😉

A book with the same title as a movie or TV show but is unrelated to it: √ – Bittersweet

A book by an author with flora or fauna in their name: √ – Lovely War by Julie Berry

A book that won an award in 2019: √ – Lovely War won the Golden Kite Award for Young Readers

A book by a WOC: √ – Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

A book with a made up language: √The Raven King

Womp, womp. I made zero progress mostly because I’m still waiting for a hold to come in from the library! Let’s hope I make it through some more squares in May because at this rate I’m never making it even once around the board, oh my gosh, haha.

Fitness Front:

Nothing exciting to report here! I’ve been participating in a fitness challenge run by one of my favorite fitness people that I follow – Danielle Pascente has the best workouts. I love her circuits and she is so much fun to follow as well – @daniellepascente on IG if you’re looking for some fitness inspo! PLENTY of free workouts to peruse right on her profile!

I ran 75.1 miles in April which is pretty typical for me. No races in sight so I’m just chugging along, mixing it up with some hill and sprint intervals weekly. Running is keeping me sane.

Let me know if you’re trying anything new at home work out wise!
