Monthly Recap! March 2019

Posted April 8, 2019 by Wendy in recap / 0 Comments

Well, the months are just FLYING by, I swear. March was an incredibly busy month (what a theme for my life, hah) but filled with exciting and fun things! It’s now really starting to feel like spring is in the air and I couldn’t be more excited for some glorious PNW sunny days!

Favorite Things In March:

I got to go to Emerald City Comic Con! Cons are always such a fun time and good experience despite feeling utterly exhausted at the end of the day. One day, I’d love to go for more days! I dressed up as Carol Danvers in her grunge outfit – it was a last minute outfit decision so I drew that Nine Inch Nails logo on the shirt which was a lot harder than you’d think, haha. At ECCC, I wandered the exhibits, bought entirely way too much stuff, looked at artwork in artist’s alley and got to listen to Rupert Grint at his spotlight panel! I fully embrace my nerdiness, I loved comic con a lot! I also got to meet Ashley Poston which was so exciting – Geekerella is a fave of mine and she is SO much fun. I can’t wait for Princess and the Fangirl!

Taylor Jenkins Reid was here for a signing celebrating the release of her latest: Daisy Jones & The Six. TJR is an author I’ve had on my TBR basically since when I first started blogging. I hear friends loving her books for the last few years and have owned some since her first book released! So I finally started some since she was going to be here! I read and loved Maybe In Another Life and Daisy Jones was incredible on audio! I think TJR really has a talent for writing stories that make you think with some great themes about love and relationships. I am eager to read her other books now!

We also went for a weekend trip to do some hiking and bouldering in Canada and had a great time! The weather wasn’t quite there for bouldering (it rained and the rocks were a bit wet) so we’ll have to go back sometime when it’s warmer, but the hiking views were fantastic! Of course had to stop through Vancouver for some delicious foods and walked around Stanley Park for the first time!

I got to hear Michelle Obama speak at her Becoming tour event and it was so inspiring and powerful. I loved her book which I had read a few months ago and really enjoyed listening to her! A very empowering and memorable talk!

Month In Review:

Books Read in March: 2

Yes, this was a slow physical reading month for me. I was REALLY busy and that physical book reading time vanished after I was doing so well in Feb (hello snow days!)

Books Listened to in March: 7

Favorite read of the month: Ruin and Rising reread and loved Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid!

Challenges Progress:

Goal: “Grand Slam” 21+
This month: 3 – Maybe In Another Life, China Rich Girlfriend and The Kiss Quotient
Progress so far:  6/21

I checked off one of the Popsugar Reading Challenge objectives!
A debut novel:The Kiss Quotient by Helena Hoang
A book that includes a wedding: China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan
A book with no chapters, unusual chapter headings, or unconventionally numbered chapters:Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Fitness Front:

I did the Hot Chocolate 15K race in Seattle! It’s one of my favorite events and I was so excited to do it with my best running friend Rebecca! (She’s also my book soul sister and simply BFF too <3) It was a gorgeous day and the chocolate goodies (hot chocolate! marshmallows! rice krispies! all dipped in chocolate fudgey goodness!) were so good.

The Snohomish Running Company had a group preview run for their upcoming Everett 10K and Half race and it was a great time meeting other race ambassadors! I have quickly realized that I do enjoy group runs! It’s great to have company and makes the time fly by!

How was your March? What exciting things stood out to you? Which books have you been reading? What do you have coming up this spring? Tell me all about it!
