My January recap IS SO LATE because literally February began while I was gone on a weekend away and I forgot February had started. Oops! So here is my late recap of January – a busy start to 2020! Here’s a bit about what I’ve been up to – tell me how the beginning of your year started out! What did you read? Any 2020 goals you want to share?
Favorite Things In January
My friend’s winter wonderland Harry Potter themed wedding! This was in Montana and it was absolutely gorgeous there! She had a roaring 20s themed wedding and had so many amazing Harry Potter details and touches. I had such a great time celebrating with her and our friends! Running brought us together and I’m so happy to know these amazing people.
I got to go snowshoeing in the Mount Rainier National Park and that was a lot of fun! We got some beautiful weather that day and didn’t get rained on!
Ragnar Del Sol! If you follow me on social media, you may have seen that my Instagram stories were filled with some sort of crazy running event last week. Ragnar is a relay style race with 12 total runners running three times in the span of ~35 hours combining for 200ish total miles. We split into two vans and run through all hours of the night, sleep where/when we can and it’s an AMAZING time. I’ve done multiple Ragnars with my van fam and can’t wait for many more to come! It was my first time in AZ and the desert views were gorgeous!
I also went down a day early to do some solo hiking and check out the sights. I loved visiting Changing Hands bookstore, a Phoenix indie. It was so cute and had an awesome bar inside called First Draft Book Bar – so amazing! I would totally go there often if I was a local!

Books Read in January: 4
Books Listened to in January: 3
Favorite read of January: I LOVED Tweet Cute! Oathbringer was also a fave – such an epic book in a truly epic fantasy series!
Challenges Progress:
Goal: “Grand Slam” 21+
This month: 4
Progress so far: 4/21
A book published in 2020: √ – Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim is out now!
A book with a map: √ – Oathbringer – I actually really would love to read this physically one day to look at the illustrations and the maps more closely!
A book about or involving social media: √ Tweet Cute! Literally revolving around a twitter war between rival fast food companies – with two teens behind the twitter accounts.
A book with a pink cover: √ – Four Letter Word
A book by an author who has written more than 20 books: √ Including the books from finishing the Wheel of Time series, that would be Edgedancer by Brandon Sanderson. Brandon Sanderson has written so many and most of them are huge! How does he do it??
Wow, that was quite a few! Maybe I’ll have a shot at completing this one this time around??
Fitness Front:
My running pace isn’t anywhere close to where I’m used to it being or where I want it to be at but I’m trying to just enjoy running! Sometimes I feel like it’s a constant uphill battle as my pace gets better and then I have some sort of injury setback and then I regress. It just feels like the story of my entire 2019. Here’s to 2020?
