Monthly Recap! August & September 2018

So I never did an August recap because I got super busy in August and life really got away from me! So here’s a combined August and September recap! Crazy that we are fully in fall now and summer is over! 🙁 I’m sad because I love summer but I do love so many things about fall too. I just hate how dark it gets so early!

Favorite Things in August & September:

So at the very end of July, I injured my hip and as you may know, I’m very active and it totally killed everything I wanted to do. I still ended up doing pretty much everything I had planned… which was probably bad because for the entirety of September I’ve been sidelined trying to recover. But I did have a great end of summer!

Backpacking at Gothic Basin was so much fun. It’s a favorite backpacking spot because it’s such a great hike (albeit challenging) but the views are so worth it.

I ran my second Ragnar race — Ragnar Rainier Trail. It’s the hardest trail race in the Ragnar trail series due to the amount of elevation gain and I totally felt it (especially because my hip was still injured! Don’t do this.) I also sprained my ankle in the first mile of my first leg coming down the mountain sooo that was a bummer. I had it taped up and finished running all of my legs – don’t worry, I have been off of it for 5 weeks now and it’s finally starting to feel better… Overall, an amazing fun time! I spent my birthday with family in Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth! That was a great distraction from my many injuries because well, it’s the happiest place on Earth. I ate all the things and rode all the rides and it was a fantastic birthday weekend!

I also got to go to some author signings in September! Ngozi Ukazu was here for Check, Please! #Hockey and it was so fun to see how comics get drawn and made into what we see and read. There is so much work that goes into writing, designing, drawing everything! I also went to Kiersten White’s signing for The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein and she is hilarious. Loved listening to her talk about her books and whatever else came up!
